My volunteering story - Morgane Voght

For one month, I went to Finland for a volunteering experience that impacted me far more than I had ever imagined.

Before leaving, I was very excited to discover a new country, but I was also incredibly scared. Scared that I wouldn’t be able to communicate with my level of English, scared of being far from home, scared of not finding my place. Yet, it is precisely by facing these fears that we grow.

During this adventure, I met amazing people that I never thought I would have the chance to meet. I shared my daily life with nine people, and i think i make a part of my favorite memories for all my life. WE SHARED SO MANY LAUGHS TOGETHER !!

Volunteering challenged us in many ways, the language barrier, the responsibilities entrusted to us, and the unexpected situations we had to face. But it is in these moments that we build self-confidence, adaptability, and the ability to overcome new obstacles.

Beyond the skills I gained while working with children and the improvement of my English, this experience mainly allowed me to get to know myself better. Being far from your usual environment encourages reflection, selfquestioning, and personal growth.

For me, Finland will always be a place of reconnection with myself. I come back with unforgettable memories, new friendships, a broader perspective
on life, and the certainty that we should never let our fears stop us from living beautiful experiences.

Thank you to villa elba for this unforgettable opportunity.
