Managing Director change at Villa Elba

Villa Elba’s long-serving Managing Director, Catarina Silvander, resigned from her position on 17 April 2026.

The Board of Villa Elba extends its warmest thanks to Catarina for her long-term, dedicated and distinguished work in developing and strengthening the operations of the Villa Elba Youth Centre. During her leadership, Villa Elba has further solidified its position as a significant national and international youth centre.

Managing Director Catarina Silvander:
“The COVID-19 pandemic marked the beginning of a new era to which organisations like youth centres have had to adapt. After the pandemic, things did not return to how they were; instead, we faced Russia’s war of aggression, global economic uncertainty and the Finnish government’s fiscal tightening. Villa Elba has overcome these challenges and will continue to do so. Now it is my time to reduce my workload and make way for the next Managing Director to continue the youth centre’s successful journey.”

Villa Elba’s operations will continue in a stable and well-planned manner. During the transition period, Deputy Managing Director Reija Wacklin will serve as Acting Managing Director, and the Board has initiated the recruitment process for a new Managing Director.

The position offers a unique opportunity to lead and develop a versatile, values-based and forward-looking youth centre, and to build Villa Elba’s future together with a skilled staff and extensive partner networks.
